An arse on the Nurburgring. Yea, the bikers did slow him down. They should have let him go. So what? It's not a bloody race and he is a massive twunt for lashing out like that.

What a massive pillock.. he's tailgating that white TT like an arse.. This guy should be banned from the ring... He'll cause an accident one day.

Indeed. I don't think he understands that nobody gives a toss about his times. In fact, I'm not sure he should have been timing himself in the first place. After all competitive driving is forbidden during trackdays.

So is it a race or is it not a race? If you are out and there is traffic, this may happen, yes? no? He seemed to be running flat out, so I don't get if it's a race or not.
I understand you are supposed to yield to the overtaker, but is there a time and/or place you are supposed to let somebody by? (not in the middle of a tight turn, etc)

As far as I can remember, you are NOT allowed to do timed runs when you're doing a touristfahren. It's essentially a public toll road.. I can't quite remember what they told me when I was there, but it was something like "No racink, racink verboten. haff fun"

It's not a race, it's a trackday. The bikers should have let him go (kept to the right at some point to let him pass), but the fact that they didn't doesn't warrant a reaction like that.

http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ringrules.php#…
Take a look at section 3 rule 2..
2) Racing is prohibited. This includes attempting to set speed records with individual vehicles.

Really sorry for you, buddy. It is a track open to the public. You had better go on a different day or quit your sniveling

So on a track day when it's mixed attendance, is it just you against your own clock or do they have official timekeeping and such?

thanks

They don't time you and you're not allowed to time yourself either. The 'ring is already dangerous enough without everyone going at 100%. Trackdays are supposed to be fun, not competitive.

Am I the only one laughing at the racing gloves, racing helmet, and probably racing shoes.... With shorts and tee shirt? Because Safety!

Yeah, noticed that as well. Pretty damn ridiculous.

You're not.. that guy have every sign of "complete and utter pillock"

Yes he was over the top. But driving Nurburgring not a race? Get off this preaching that it's a public road. Are you kidding me? You pay for each circuit of the track. It's not point A to point B. No one is out there to go to the store or go visit Grandma. They are out there to drive fast around a track. Everyone times themselves. Get over the public road thing. For all intents and purposes it's a public track.
Yes, he needs to chill out and share the race track, but they should have moved over. No doubt about it. And yes he could go run a real race.
Someone went into the sand trap at 8:04 they would have been right up with the motorcycles. I'm curious what happened there.

The fact that he paid for entry and is allowed to go fast doesn't make it a race. In fact, any sort of competitive driving is strictly forbidden during trackdays. The bikers should have moved off, but they didn't and that doesn't make making scenes justified. In fact he was braking the rules by timing himself in the first place, so he has absolutely no leg to stand on when he complains about other people not adhering to them. Oh, and he was filming his lap which isn't allowed either (unless you have written permission which I doubt he has).

So what percent of drivers do you think are following the rules? That is to say they don't film or time their laps. It's one of the most famous stretches of roads in the world. You have to pay to get on it. It might be sold and plowed into a series of apartments or factories or farms in a matter of a few years. Everyone has cameras with timing apps and Go Pros to record the memory for a minimal cost. Everyone is out there to enjoy the speed and test their driving skill. The rules are a bit out dated. How many Nurburgring laps are up on YouTube? The 'ring rules are kind of like don't walk signs in New York or medicinal pot laws in California. The're more like guidelines.

Sure, let's say they are guidelines, the dude behaved like a massive ass anyway. He broke the rules (several of them in fact) and then HE get's mad?
Yeah... do not be like this guy.

Don't be the guy who makes everyone watch 9 minutes of nothing for 30 seconds of road rage.

Laird Andy McBratlle - I agree.
If I get there, I'm filming it and timing it for the archives. However, hopefully I'm aware and letting faster drivers pass, and hopefully I'm not anything like that guy if I get stuck behind someone slower.

That's OK with me :)

He doesn't seem to understand that bikes have to slow down for corners and can't alter their trajectories hugely once they're committed to a line. Then he swears at them for outaccelerating them on the straights. Hah. They weren't doing anything wrong that I can see, just obeying the laws of physics
